CreatedWoman
CreatedWoman is a local women's ministry organization that helps women find their God-given purpose and empowers them to live out their dreams!
It's a beautiful organization that I felt led to by God after I left my teaching position at the end of last year.
It was around the time of the holidays and I was going through a really rough time. All in about a month's time - December 2017, I left my teaching position, became sick with the flu for 2 weeks, was in a car accident, lost my health insurance for my family and I, and to put a cherry on top I endured a painful root canal during that time and had to be on strong pain medication for about a week after the procedure. What looked and felt like an awful ending was truly a blessing in disguise and the beginning of a beautiful new journey. Instead this time, my tour guide would be God.
Going from working full time and being away from my family so much to being a full time stay at home mom and wife, was rocky in the beginning. In that I wasn't sure what my next step would be, feeling inadequate because I wasn't teaching anymore. All lies of course. During this transition time, I cried out to God in prayer and devotional time and asked God what my next step was. I was open minded and open hearted to where and what he would call me to next. I was ready.
In the new year season, God gave me new goals, new vision, and new purpose for the year and my word for 2018 is RESTITUTION(the restoration of something lost or stolen to its proper owner, compensate for injury or loss).
Since I'm a millennial and enjoy being on social media, I kept being led to Created Woman. Not even too sure how I found it or the organization found me. I can honestly say that it was God and I finally listened and attended a Gather Her event in February and while I was there, I felt like that was exactly where I needed to be at this moment in my life. Gather Her is a monthly gathering that CreatedWoman hosts and they have free food, friends, fashion, shopping, spoken message, small group sessions to discuss questions related to the message and to speak about our dreams and action steps to fulfill those dreams.
I prayed about volunteering and seeing how I could contribute and serve this organization. God kept giving me confirmation about being a part of CreatedWoman. So I attended a lunch and learn with them to learn more about the organization and what kind of volunteer work they were looking for. The founder, Heather, is a passionate genuine leader who shared CreatedWoman's story and all the volunteer positions available. As well as other women leaders within the CW family. Yes, all involved in CW are considered family. Its so beautiful all around. After the speaking of from different women in the organization and showing an exclusive clothing collection, we all were asked to speak with a woman from the group we'd like to volunteer with.
The one and only group that spoke to my heart and strengths was the writer and editor group. After speaking with Lynn, I knew that this is where God wanted me to be and this was my next step he wanted me to take. That day I filled out the volunteer application and by the end of the week submitted 2 articles (writing samples).
Shortly after that I was emailed that they loved my articles and I was welcomed to the CW family. Now I write for CW monthly and I thank God for his guidance and feel so honored to be writing for them.
When I write, I first pray and ask God what he wants me to share for her, the woman who will be reading what I write. Often times the things that I write about are super personal and transparent and very vulnerable and I think its exactly what other women want to read - the truth.
Starting to write for CW has been one of the best steps I have taken in my life. As I surround myself with the positive, God-fearing, dream-living, women of CreatedWoman, it allows me a safe place to be me and to share my dreams with and take action steps to live out those God-given dreams! Since I began writing for CW, doors have open to other things lined up with my purpose and God has shown me His vision, His purpose, and why He made me back in '88. Which I will share in another article to come.
CreatedWoman is currently in central Texas and the future plans are for the organization to grow and be global! I hope that soon you will be able to experience CW in a city near you. In the meantime pray and ask God what your next step is and if there is a local organization near you that He would like you to be involved in.
Until next time. Take care.
