Autism Awareness, Acceptance, And
Imagine walking down the grocery aisle and reading every single ingredient label of peanut butter. I wonder how long that would take to get to read each ingredient and any pertinent information about the peanut butter.
For convenience and sake of time, reading the front label quickly is how most people grab, get, and go when they choose what they will buy from the store and take home for themselves and their family.
What if people decided who they would interact with based on the labels that are placed on others, either diagnosed labels, opinionated labels, cultural labels, or any other type of labels(gender, religion, race, SES, trade, mental health, IQ, EQ).
The truth is that we people do, do that. What if we chose to have a more love focused perspective. Even if you might not agree or understand the other person, try to just love them. If you could support them that would great too. Support may look like encouragement, being a friend, or something else just ask them.
With this month being autism awareness month. We as a people can be more accepting and loving to others. Whoever they are, let's choose to love them. Love them even more so if they don't make sense to you or if you don't know about their label - love them.
People living with special needs and people living with a mental health need are some of the strongest and limitless people out there. They need the love, support, and acceptance of their people (family, friends, and community).
Even if you may not know what autism is or what it is like to live with it. Love others. Maybe you know someone living with autism. Love them.
My oldest Athena has autism and is living her best life at 14 years old (see picture below). Love her. Some of my family and friends have young boys living with autism. Love him.
Let's love others more.

Minerva
