Hot Mess Mama

In hot mess mama fashion, this article is posted later than I originally planned (Mother's day weekend).

As a special-needs mother and special education educator, I love both roles that I have the honor of serving. God is first out of everything and my home and children are my first ministry. Serving the special-needs community is right next to them.

I would be lying if I said that what I do is easy or for the faint of heart. And I love what God has given me the opportunity and blessing to do.

And I only share this to give hope!

The past month has been a tough one for my family. Finishing up the end of the school year usually is challenging for my Oldest. Its almost as if she has an internal clock that knows when Summer is coming. Towards the end of this school year, she would take longer each morning to get up, get dressed, and out the door. I would drop off my youngest with my husband, drop off my oldest at school, then go to work. Some days she'd just sit there not wanting to get out of the car. I for sure reached out to her teachers and made sure everything was okay on the school front, they reassured that all was well and they too were noticing some concerns.

Keeping in consistent communication with her teachers has been a partnership that I thank God for. Recalling back on previous school years, she tends to have this pattern. Either way, God, her daddy, and I are here to support her all the way and through whatever she may deal with.

Here's where the hot mess mama part comes into play. I could easily, heavy emphasis on easily, fall into the trap of going down the rabbit hole of 'whoah is me, this is too hard, blah blah!' But NO! I choose to stand on God's truths and promises of who I am as a woman, as His daughter, as my husband's wife, as my children's mother, as a friend, as a family member, as an ambassador for Christ, and an advocate for the special-needs community.

From one mama to another, Love, you and I are not hot mess mamas! Whatever you may feel or think that makes you qualify as hot mess, just know that God loves you as is! He can take every single messy, dirty, imperfect part of your life and past and turn it around for His glory and for a message of inspiration for others!

As regular mamas living in this ultra technologically advance society, let's hold onto God's truths and use them as declarations to meditate on.

Here are a few:

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV)
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus I am victorious!

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God has me and my life in His hands!

Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

When the hot mess mama thinking starts to come up, counter it with one of the declarations above.

Love you!

XO,

Minerva
